Sambhalpuri Ikat is a traditional handloom textile from the Sambhalpur region of Odisha, known for its double ikat technique, where both the warp and weft yarns are tie-dyed before weaving. This process involves multiple dips in various colors to achieve intricate patterns, and it is also referred to as "Bandhakala," "Bandha," or "Bandha of Odisha." Traditionally woven with tussar silk, one of India's wild silks, Sambhalpuri Ikats were primarily made into sarees. However, due to the growing popularity of Ikat in contemporary markets, they are now also crafted into stoles, dupattas, and yardage fabrics.
