A traditional hanging Lamp of Kerala comprises of a lamp bowl in the front, a container for oil in the middle, and a handle. The lamp incorporates the Hindu belief in Akhanda Jyot, which stands for burning the lamp without interruption. Here the lamp bowl is continuously refilled without letting the lamp extinguish even for a moment.
