This square-shaped wall hanging locally known as ‘Chakla’ meaning a cloth having four angles, is embroidered using Kathi Rajput embroidery. Chaklas are also used as ceremonial cloths or table cloths.
This Chakla is hand embroidered using angular motifs all over using multi-color threads and mirrors on red fabric.
Kathi Bharat done by Kathis, Mahajans, and Bania communities is considered to be one of the oldest forms of cloth embellishments. Geometric and floral patterns along with mirrors are heavily used in this embroidery. Linear long stitches and contrasting colors define the visual vocabulary of Kathi Bharat.
