Product Description: A Dowry bag hand-made in applique work is a bag used to carry and store gifts given to a daughter during her wedding that she takes to her husband’s house. Applique is an intricate sewing technique popular in Gujarat. It is decorative hand needlework in which different colour and size fragments of fabric are stitched onto a larger piece to create a design or pattern. Made out of different colour plain fabric bands which has a thick band of floral design at the center that enhances its looks. It also has mirror embellishments at the lower bands with triangular patterns. Applique is used mainly for festive occasions but is deeply embedded in the lives of many Agro-pastoral communities. |
