Hand embroidered in Kambira style, this square pouch has an envelope shape made by folding three corners of a square-shaped cloth at right angles and then sewing the edges.
Kambira embroidery is practiced by Harijan communities living on the Banni grassland tract, near the Great Rann of Kachchh. The stepped running stitch style of Kambira embroidery is inspired by Muslim architecture. These bags were used to safely keep valuables or store mouth fresheners like beetle nuts, Cardamom, and Clove at ceremonial events.
The design of the bag comprises abstract patterns with multicolored threads used on varied color panels.
