The Bokano (large-size sash) is hand-made in Sindhi embroidery and is worn as headgear covering the ears during sword dances performed during festivals.
Sindhi embroidery also known as Sindhi kadai or Kutchi embroidery was brought to India by Sindhi who migrated from Sindh, present-day Pakistan. There are many kinds of Kutchi embroidery, and Sindhi embroidery is one of them. Chain stitch done with mirrors in floral patterns is a very repeated work we have seen everywhere be it in shawls or dupattas in this type of embroidery.
Handwoven on the beige background it has embroidery using green, yellow, and maroon threads along with herringbone stitch that is used for the outline and mirrors as an additional embellishment.
