Product Description: This silver salver from Kutch, Gujarat, is circular in form and rests on three cast feet. It is finely chased all over with motifs typical of the Islamic-inspired dense foliage and flower work that was patronized during the Colonial era. Motifs of animals and hunters are also projected in bas-relief. The tray’s openwork border, repeated in the same floral and foliate motif, has been applied with a cast rim. The design and the quality of craftsmanship is very closely reminiscent of the finesse of Oomersi Mawji pieces, one of the most celebrated Indian silversmiths of all time. |
