Product Description: Kath-Khuni houses are native houses from the state of Himachal Pradesh. Kath is the dialectal variation of the Sanskrit word for Wood and Khuni is the dialectal variation of the Sanskrit word for Corner. These houses are built by the natives using local resources and to withstand the frequent seismic tremors that are generally felt through the torrid, mountainous terrains of Himachal Pradesh. Since the use of power-driven technology is minimal up in the mountains, most of the work is done manually and a close interdependence is created between the people and nature around them. |
