KALA COTTON

Kala cotton, indigenous to Kachchh, is an organic crop grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. This rain-fed plant is disease-resistant and thrives in challenging conditions, requiring minimal investment. Its short fiber length allows for spinning only thick yarn (28’s to 30’s count), limiting its mass market appeal. However, with growing awareness of sustainability and ecological sensitivity, the use of Kala cotton is increasing among Indian and global brands.
