A traditional canopy used as decoration during ceremonies depicting floral shoots and creepers that is hand stitched using different colour fabrics typically applied in a decorative design.
Applique is an intricate sewing technique popular in Gujarat. It is decorative hand needlework in which different colour and size fragments of fabric are stitched onto a larger piece to create a design or pattern. Abstract patterns throughout in red, yellow, blue and green colour along with triangular shape border at its perimeter.
Applique is used mainly for festive occasions but is deeply embedded in the lives of many agro-pastoral communities.
