Hand embroidered in Kharek style this small rectangular mattress used as a pad or support for the reclining body, designed to be used as a bed for small kids. Mattresses are usually quilted one with unused stuff like cotton or fabric.
Kharek embroidery goes back to Sindh and was brought to the regions of Banni by Meghwals and Islamic pastoralists who migrated from the region. The name itself is reminiscent of the tactile textural quality of the Dates tree and it is an exultant inspiration of the form
Embroidered on marron color cloth it has different designs panels. The last panel embroidered in Kharek style has geometrical patterns into which colors maroon, green, and orange are filled using the satin stitch. Also, one can see the pattern is primarily executed with a black outline of double running stitch and different size mirrors. It also has green and gold border laces on two ends of embroidery.
