 Product Description:

Square embroidered wall hangings hand made in Kanbi embroidery which is also used as table cloths or ceremonial cloths is locally known as ‘Chakla’. ‘Chakla’ means a piece or item that has four angles.

The Rabari shepherd, Kanbi farming, and Ahir herding castes the peasant communities of Saurashtra are the main ones who practice this embroidery also known as Kutchi embroidery. They embroider in white, yellow, green, and red, mainly on red, orange, white, black, or green cotton or satin cloth. The embroidery is distinguished by its predominant chain and open-chain stitching and the use of mirrors. The motifs are floral patterns, parrots or peacocks, animal, and human figures.
